Our main collection is now fine-free!
Sherrill-Kenwood Free Library has eliminated late fees for most items in its collection. Library users will no longer be charged when books, DVDs, periodicals, and audiobooks are returned late.
In addition, all previously existing overdue fees for library materials borrowed at Sherrill-Kenwood Free Library have been waived from all Mid York library accounts.
Fines will still apply for certain special collection items, including park and museum passes, athletic equipment, American Girl Dolls, and more.
Borrowers are still responsible for ensuring that their items are returned by their due date. Library users will continue to receive reminders to return overdue materials. Once an item has been overdue for 30 days, that item is considered lost, and the borrower is charged the full replacement cost of the item to their account.
Items may be returned to any library in the Mid York Library System, which includes all public libraries in Madison, Oneida, and Herkimer counties.
If you have any questions, please contact the library at 315-363-5980.

Introducing NoveList Plus & NoveList K-8 Plus!
Have you ever finished a great book and wanted to find more just like it? Or wanted to help your child find just the right book to read? SKFL now offers NoveList Plus, a helpful resource to help readers match up with the books that are right for them. NoveList Plus supports readers of all ages, while the NoveList K-8 Plus database is specialized for younger readers. Our new NoveList Plus logos on our website’s homepage serve as buttons for easy access to each database.
Our NoveList Plus databases connect readers to their next book by making recommendations for what to read next. One of the most popular elements is read-alikes. This feature suggests titles that are ‘just like’ other titles. If you’ve just finished a great book, log into NoveList Plus and find great read-alikes. There are also read-alikes for authors and series. Consider NoveList Plus your one-stop guide to great reading. It contains lists of recommended reads and award-winning books. It covers both fiction and nonfiction titles for all ages from the youngest readers to adults. It also has extra content like reviews (both professional reviews and reader reviews), book discussion guides, curriculum guides, and other book-oriented articles. Book groups and teachers find these resources especially helpful.
Both databases are also integrated with the Mid York Catalog, so you can easily see what formats an item is available in. You can also use the orange “Go To Catalog” button to be taken to that item in the Mid York Catalog.
If you have questions about using NoveList Plus, we’re happy to help! Stop by during our open hours, call us at 315-363-5980, or send us an email at sherrill@midyork.org.
Support our VVS Community!
